Meet the team

Following a period as part time Saturday Meet & Greeter, Fabio was offered a full time position in February 2020 just before the COVID Pandemic hit. However Fabio stuck to his dream of becoming a Sales Consultant and has achieved exactly that. Now an established figure in our Sales Centre you will always be greeted with a massive Fabio smile and desire to help. Fabio is also responsible for taking photo's of our stock cars and loading these along with specification and stories onto our new website. He also loves making video's and is an active Team Member updating our Social Media channels.    

Joining us back in September 2015 as a youngster straight out of school Craig has not only served his 4 years apprenticeship with us but has also passed his exams to become a Class 4 & Class 7 MOT Tester. He is also qualified to work on Hybrid vehicles and fully electric vehicles. Craig is never one for missing a training opportunity and is always to learn. At 6ft 5 and with size 10 feet Craig has adopted the nickname ‘Shorty’ and is by far the tallest Team member.  

Gary is our very own handy man & driver who joined the team in 2018. Splitting his time between the Sales & Service Centre's Gary is a Jack of all trades. Fueling cars one minute to cutting the grass the next. He can turn his hand to anything and everything and moans about nothing. You will always find Gary with a smile on his face and a willingness to help anyone one of the most likeable people you will ever meet. When Gary isn’t at work, you’ll find him at competitions with his Doo’s or Enjoying an ice cream at Mackies.Gary works between both the sale and the service departments.

As a fully qualified midwife, Laura took the decision to not go back to midwifery after the birth of her daughter Aria, this meant Laura becoming a full time mum. However, due to the changes in GDPR and the ever changing compliance and regulation in our industry, we have called on Laura’s administration expertise and gentle phone manner to help contact our customers. So if you get a call, it’s most likely Laura. Now that her son Murray is a toddler Laura has found time to get back to helping out at Jim Reid's as part time administrator , marketing and holiday cover for Herd Van Hire and Camper Tribe. Laura is married to Phil Buchan ( Sales Director) and his Jim & Gail's daughter. Laura was made a Director in August 2020.

Joining our team in June 2012, Holly has established herself as a top quality valeter and an expert with a machine polisher, removing scuffs and scratches with ease. Holly loves valeting cars and describes it as the best job in the world. Dedicated to the job, when Holly finds herself on a day off she will either be watching football, getting a new tattoo, valeting her own Red Alfa Romeo or a Domino's pizza.   Holly is not only in charge of our busy valeting department but also heads up our Ceramic Coating business called Gloss HQ.

Greig joined our Sales team as a sales consultant in 2018 however has now been promoted to run our Herd Hire franchise as Fleet Manager. Greig not only looks after the daily Self Drive Van & Car Hire Fleet , but also looks after our longer term rental customers ensuring that they are looked after and that they are never off the road. He is also in charge of our CamperTribe Franchise which is made up of two fully equipped, prestige VW Transporter Camper Vans which are available for hire 365 days of the year.

Joining us officially in May 2009, Phil has progressed through the ranks from Part Time Meet & Greeter and driver to Sales Consultant, Sales Manager and finally becoming Sales Director in August 2020. In 2013 Phil was rewarded for his hard work and focus on achieving finance and sales targets by winning a national award at Car Dealer Magazine’s Used Car Dealer Awards in December 2013. Phil became the first winner of ‘Upsales and F&I Performance of the Year’ achieving this by helping our small sales team increase our finance volume by a massive 48% in one year. More recently Phil was shortlisted for ‘Sales Manager of the Year’ at The Auto Industry Excellence Awards in March 2019 and came Highly Commended. Congratulations Phil, a very well deserved recognition!   Phil run's a very tight ship in the Sales Centre ensuring all customers gain the 'Jim Reid Experience'  Phil is Married to Laura Buchan and is Jim & Gail's Son-in-Law  

Joint Director… but more importantly my wife and mother of our two children, Laura and Liam, and now Grandma to our lovely wee Granddaughter, Aria & grand son Murray. Gail has been the driver behind our success. When I came home from work one day as Sales Manager at LofK and told her that I would love to start up on my own, she asked “what took you so long?” With support like that I couldn’t go wrong. When we started in business back in February 2003, Gail and I were ‘Jim Reid Vehicle Sales’. We simply HAD to do everything ourselves. That meant buying, selling, answering the phone, washing, cleaning and polishing every car, collecting and delivering cars, even cleaning the toilets I mean EVERYTHING, 7 days a week, this with two young children to bring up. “Looking back it was only our joint determination to make the business work that has made us succeed. However without Gail’s support, I would never have achieved my dream” Jim Reid, Director  

Leaving school at the age of 16, Jim’s first taste of the motor trade was with Harper Motor Company (Ford) in Aberdeen as a YTS Parts Person taking home £27.50 per week. He then went on to complete his City & Guilds Apprenticeship with Local Vauxhall Dealer Lawrence of Kemnay, working his way up through the ranks by joining their very successful sales team in 1993, eventually becoming Sales manager in 1999. Grasping an opportunity to start his own Car sales business in December 2002, Jim has never looked back. Jim & Gail opened their doors for the first time on the 1st of February 2003, with a promise that every customer would remember their buying experience for all the right reasons. A promise that Jim holds close to his heart even today. 'The experience is everything'  “I love this job and feel very lucky and privileged to meet so many lovely people and gain an insight into their lives, something most people will never do.Although I am very proud of winning national awards for our achievements, this is purely a by-product of the customer care that we offer to our customers on a daily basis.”  

Liam joined Team Reid full time in June 2021 when he helped set up our Gloss HQ , Ceramic Coating brand from scratch after leaving a very successful 7 year career as an Aeronautical Engineer in Aberdeen. Having grown up within the Sales environment it was somewhat inevitable that he would end up selling vehicles in the Sales Department, which is exactly where you will find him. Liam is Jim & Gail's son Liam was made a Director in August 2020
